Karo kaput/Plaid coat

(Malo sam šila u poslednja tri meseca.
My January project was completed in January, true at the very end, but only now I have an opportunity to write about it because I took the photos yesterday.
(I've sewed a little for the last three months. In December I was busy, January started badly, continued worse in February, so it's as good as it could be.)

I was looking forward to this coat, but a lot.
Red and blue, and even plaid with white, all things are my favorite.
I like to make coats and jackets.
This may be one of my favorite things I sew. It's just a pity that I don't need them so much that I can sew them more (and once more I emphasize that I have material for at least 10 coats more).

I bought the fabric exactly one year ago when I was looking for the fabric for a wedding dress. Then the winter ended quickly so I didn't have the chance to make it and because of that it had been waiting for this year.
I dwelt between two patterns, one of the current modern ones and this one, somewhat classical.

Model kaputa prati A-liniju, nije strukiran.
This pattern is model 102 from Burda Magazine for November 2010.
The model has A-line shape.
In the magazine is coat in sizes from 38 to 44, but as my upper section corresponds to the size 36 and the lower 38, I adjusted the pattern to myself (I narrowed the upper part to the waist to size 36 and fitted with the lower part that remained the size 38, dropped and extended the sleeves as always.).

Plaid fabrics, fabrics with stripes or pattern that needs to fit well may be a little more challenging because of joining colors and lines.
By the way, the buttons part looks pretty good, I tried to make the dark blue part last on edges. on photos below can be seen the seam on the back and I'm only 99% satisfied, but it also seems okay. The third thing, I paid attention to was the side seams, in which I managed to fit the horizontal lines perfectly. On shoulder seams because of the pattern itself, it was not possible to fit upright lines and I do not think it was necessary. My 'mistake' or 'caprice'was that I have chosen for this model plaid fabric that is the most beautiful when it fits well.
The sleeves were made out of two parts and around them I didn't even think about fitting lines, it was only important they look good.

As far as the pockets are concerned, the size is similar to that of the model in the magazine, but the fabric lines are vertical from the direction of the coat body. I was thinking of fitting the lines and colors that pockets don't distinguish, but this variant is more interesting.

When I sewed tipi for my nephew, I tried the possibility of my machines to stitch letters, and it's what I used here. Maybe a little too much, but I put my name on the coat. True, not very noticeable.

As far as the buttons are concerned, there are 3 in the original model, but I put 4, maybe even a similar spacing (I never do it, I always put it as I want because I have never the same button size and the same fabric as it is shown in the magazine, and almost always looks different than there.).
I doubted that I put the fifth button, but my husband decided, saying it didn't need. And that was it, but I can always add another button if this doesn't work as it should.

The biggest problem with this coat was to find a suitable lining.
In the local store, I found only what is on the coat now, that is, only that color. When I brought it home, it looked like black, though is dark blue, so I was a certain time in a doubt because of color. Even though I ordered a dark blue lining on the internet, but when it arrived, it turned out to be lighter and didn't match.
I had still on stock white (too white), yellow and pink (too colorful altogether), but none was considered as an ideal solution (I am well known to like colorful, but mixing designs and colors and fabrics, It's not my strong side.).
And then one day, this lining was dark blue again so I used it for a coat.

Ja sam kaputom oduševljena.
I'm delighted with the coat.

I hope you liked the coat as much as I like it.

Skinny Jeans

Moje prve farmerice!!!
My first jeans !!!
The first I sewed for myself.
I had no need to sew jeans, but this year of the challenge became a year of testing my capabilities and knowledge regarding sewing. Somehow, it was time to sew a pair of jeans (I still have to try underwear to sew. Looking forward.)

(This is the penultimate thing I've been sewing in 2017, but because I don't have the right place for taking photos, I do it outside in our yard, and because of the rain, the snow and the similar (the chaotic end of December each year, so I cut my small finger and my hand was three weeks in bandage.), I wasn't able to finish this post in the past year. (I'm still waiting for my sister to take photos of the tipi I've sewed last in 2017. )).

Generally, as pants and jeans are concerned, my opinion is that the majority of women, unfortunately, and I (and I'm aware of that), too much practice wearing mentioned.
For me, it represents a sort of easy and quick solutions, but lately, I most often resort to it. Although I love dresses, and most of them have in my closet, and most sew, I am sorry that I don't wear them often.

Now let's go over the technical details.
In almost 100% of cases, I use patterns from Burda Sewing Magazine, and in Burda is no pattern for denim, ie in magazine issues since 2005 (I have them all) is no jeans. I was thinking of buying one of the patterns on the internet, but I gave up. In the end, I found and used a pattern for slim fit pants from Burda for March 2014, and it is model 115. (Anyhow I had the intention to sew skinny jeans.)

Krojem sam zadovoljna.
This pattern is good. I adjusted the back part to fit me and the waistline as I love it, extended legs and that was it. I followed the instruction in the magazine because it is explained in details how this model to sew (I usually read the instructions and do what I think is best, not paying attention what is written.)
My jeans can be seen in the following photos.

I tried to satisfy all the "rules" of the jeans and partially succeeded. One of the things that I didn't do is that I didn't use a brown thread for visible stitches as it should, and I had it, and I made one mistake: I forgot a small pocket!!! (Sorry...)

Things that I would change when I sew this model again (I want to make it again, maybe as pants) are that I might make them wider (I have an impression that the legs are very tight and the rest is normally comfortable, maybe even up to my legs, but I don't think my legs are so thick that I have to feel that my jeans are tight.) and slightly enlarge my back pockets (Though I like them this way too.).

As far as the fabric is concerned, I was disappointed and I am still. I bought in the local store 1.20 m of this denim at a price of 10 € per meter. I washed it, as always as I do before the sewing, the color remained constant, but the quality wasn't, and when I sewed and ironed it, the quality was getting worse. Even the pins ripped the threads or left traces in the fabric.

On the photos, you can see jeans on me.

I am pleased with jeans, for the first time it is great.

Haljina za zimu/Winter dress

Hohoho...
Hohoho...
Winter is coming, somewhere has already fallen snow, in this part of the country hasn't yet. Weather forecast says next week. I look forward to it every year, so I wait for snow this year too.
Otherwise, I don't like winter, but I love the snow. The real winter is the winter with the snow, at least I'm so used to it.
Lately, I'm trying not to buy fabrics. I have too much, I've always bought a lot, and since I wrote a blog even more.
I didn't buy anything at the last Stoffmarkt, but I bought 10m of different fabrics recently, and for the last time even my husband went with me in the store (I was looking fabric for a tipi tent that I plan next week to sew for my nephew's second birthday) to prevent me from buying any more, but he is weak on my weakness so I still bought another two meters.
In the mentioned 10m of purchased fabrics was this one also.

The fabric is thicker, ideal for winter. It was in multiple designs, but all of them were in blue with the black. I've decided on this plaid pattern, and my friend for one of the remaining ones, so I'm really interested in how her dress will look.

I didn't plan to make this model, I bought 1.80m of fabric, to sew an ordinary dress length up to the knee and with long sleeves. However, looking for the appropriate model I found this one.
It is model number 118 from the Burda magazine for October 2012. In this magazine, this model is in gray and looks great.

The model has a larger cut around the neck that bends to one side or the other, the dress is gathered at the waist on the left side. On the back are a hidden zipper and 2 darts.
My opinion is that the model is excellent and certainly I'll sew it again.

In photos can be seen as the dress fits me, though I have just noticed that I didn't set the top part as it should (Those, who have sewed this pattern, know.)

Do sledećeg čitanja.
I hope you (though) liked story and photos.

Još jedna jednostavna haljina/Another simple dress

Ja obožavam haljine!!!
I love dresses!!!

This is one of the dresses I was really looking for, but...
rarely sew in the last time, and this dress has been for two months on my cutting table. It should have been completed in the fall, and winter is soon on the door.
I sew slow and often leave things aside for some time because I don't want to sew them at that time, but I have to admit that in the last couple of months I don't have the will to sew or I have so many ideas so I can't decide what to do first.
The colors are autumn colors - brown, orange, ... And there are some more beautiful colors ... So I'm really delighted with the colors and pattern, although I don't like pattern with tiny flowers.
The fabric is viscose, bought 6 years ago in Novi Sad. All these years I had no idea what to sew from it before I started cutting this fabric - blouse or dress!? And as you already know, I'm a too big fan of dresses, so this dress is made.

The pattern is from Burda magazine, and if anyone is interested which model I can look for. I changed the bottom part, and everything else remained the same as in the original pattern.
I always mix patterns and make what I want, so the top part of the dress in the story https://ormarjednejelene.blogspot.de/2017/01/decembarska-haljinadecember-dress.html is the same whit this one but shorter (I didn't wear that dress yet and it is now ideal time for that, for upcoming holidays.).

I was expecting the dress to be more interesting in the photos, at least because of the fabric pattern, because dress pattern is simple, but now I think that might be better to add something, ruffles or lace.
Although I like this dress because I'm always for simple things.
It remains to me to find the appropriate jewelry for this dress, the boots on the pictures are one of my favorites, and I should soon sew a brown jacket or coat (which I'm not coming to anyway) to complete the look.
